It was refreshing to see a show with Asian and Indigenous influence in popular Western media such as Avatar the Last Airbender. Like many people, I thoroughly enjoyed the show, especially the growth we saw along the journey with Aang. How he mentally matured from a 12-year-old boy to a responsible and grounded, world-saving Avatar, and I wanted to reflect that on this project. He was playful, and Katara held him accountable most of the time. But gradually, the maturing manifested in his expressions and body language, and he no longer is the boy Katara had to protect.
